In the latest bit of evidence that unseeded draws can be pretty annoying sometimes, Arsenal have drawn the winner of today's match between Manchester United and Preston North End in the sixth round (or quarterfinal, or whatever you want to call it) of the FA Cup. This will be an away game, no matter who wins it.
Aside from the directly relevant one, the other draws were as follows:
- Liverpool vs. Blackburn
- Bradford City vs. Reading
- Aston Villa vs. West Bromwich Albion
So yeah, that's pretty annoying. On the positive side, last year Arsenal were able to beat Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, and Liverpool on the way to winning the FA Cup, so maybe this year we've just decided to get all the tough bits done at once. And I suppose it took penalties to beat Wigan and extra time to beat Hull City, so it's not like that was all that easy either.
Still, it's annoying. Come on Preston, I guess.
EDIT: Preston North End didn't listen to me. We will play Manchester United.
