Arsenal to land Barcelona outcast on loan

New, comments

This certainly adds something to the squad. What exactly is a bit unknown right now.

Bilel Ghazi, journalist for French publication L’equipe, is reporting that Arsenal and Barcelona have struck a deal for the loan of Brazilian attacking midfielder and former Liverpool star Coutinho on a loan, with the duration of it unspecified as of now.

There is a lot yet to process to determine if this is actually going to be A Thing; after all, Arsenal head coach Unai Emery shot down with near-certainty following the friendly the two clubs played over last weekend that they were looking at the player, who’s currently on the outs amid speculation that PSG forward Neymar is nearing a return to his former side.

Quite how Coutinho would fit in with the current setup at Arsenal remains the biggest question. He is, from what we hear, a terrible center back, and the attack as it stands now with no injuries seems full of quality players who would ask for and rightly demand as much playing time as possible.

There’s still a lot of time left in the window, as these last days prove to never fail in the amount of activity that’s generated in the dying minutes, so keep an eye on these pages as we update with any other breaking news regarding this very talented but mercurial midfielder. But as it stands now, we might be closer to a Coutinho welcome than this just being another rumor floating harmlessly away from us all.
