Arsenal made Jeff Reine-Adelaide’s permanent move to French club Angers official today, closing a chapter on a short career of a teenager that arrived with promise, showed flashes, yet ultimately remained more potential than production:
We wish you all the best in your next chapter, @jreineadelaide https://t.co/TaudTIglgK

Jeff arrived with fellow French youth Yassin Fortune in the summer of 2015, and after impressing with his dribbling skills between the two boxes during that year’s Emirates Cup many observers and fans believed Arsenal had a future superstar on its hands. However, Jeff never really found that breakthrough with the first-team, and he spent the second half of last season on loan at Angers in an attempt to gain more appearances in a top-flight competition.
But with the arrival of new head coach Unai Emery combined with the purchases of Luicas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles continuing to push for minutes in a suddenly-competitive midfield, Jeff’s chances for inclusion in the starting XI or bench grew dimmer.
So it is with a heavy heart we say bye to #JEFF. May the winds of change propel you and your hilarious JEFF shirt towards a brighter future (and may Arsenal never regret this decision).
