This is certainly A Surprising Development

Arsenal signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and got Mesut Özil to sign a contract extension today. And, it appears they might be in for a very surprising, last-minute deal to capture Schalke’s Max Meyer:

Meyer, a player many have described this season as “Santi Cazorla-like”, is out of contract this summer, and Schalke’s already watched Leon Goretzka agree to join Bayern Munich next season. There is every reason to believe that if Meyer has indicated he won’t re-sign with his club, that Schalke will be less than inclined to let another talented midfielder leave for free in the same transfer window. So while the odds are very slim-to-nil that Arsenal can pull off such a deal in less than nine hours, where there’s a will there’s a way.

Stay tuned for more coverage on this. From the looks of it, until we hear from stronger sources there’s not a lot brewing. That, as you know, can change very quickly and dramatically.
