In the face of constant rumors linking him to a return back to the club that gladly ushered him out the door and into Arsenal’s welcoming arms during his most formative years in his career, Hector Bellerin tweeted out a response to all the nonsensical, fanatical noise emanating from the desperate mouths and words of the Catalan press:
Don't believe everything you read...— Héctor Bellerín (@HectorBellerin) June 8, 2017
Two days ago, I literally headlined a post here entitled “Hector Bellerin probably got his quotes twisted by Barcelona-friendly press”, because of course he did. This is nothing new when it comes to these rumormongers.
Just, please, everyone, remember all of this when stories continue to emerge about how Barcelona is lining up a £40 million transfer for Bellerin, or that young Hector is a delicate flower who doesn’t like living in London now that his family is so far away and back home in Spain, or that he’s an Arsenal player “for now, but as with anything in football you never know”. Because, in actuality, he’s an Arsenal player now and for the next five seasons to come.
There is, under no circumstance, any reason for Arsenal to consider any fee for Bellerin at this point, and there is no reason for Bellerin to move to Barcelona so soon after agreeing to such a lengthy contract extension. And certainly not for £40 million, when Nelson Semedo - an inferior player at the same position Bellerin operates from - is rumored to have a £45 million tag on his head.
This is all nonsense, and Hector essentially confirmed it all within a single sentence. Again, as I said on Tuesday, there is nothing to look into here, you’re free to go about your day and pretend this never happened.
