Having up to two Premier League loan options available at their disposal, Watford is rumored to be looking to use one of those precious spots for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers.

The Watford Observer states that among many reasons, Watford could be intrigued by a temporary Chambers loan because they have to trim their 23 foreign players that are currently on the books to 17 by the start of September.

From an Arsenal perspective, Chambers could benefit from being with a club that can afford him regular playing time that is also extremely close by; Watford's training facilities are Arsenal's old facilities that are right next door to London Colney, and his progress away on loan could be easily tracked by Arsene Wenger and the rest of the staff. He's only 21 years old and still in the very early stages of his top-flight career, and gaining that time on the pitch - as a defender whose career looks to be in the center of the pitch- is vital.

While fans have strong opinions about Gabriel, Wenger trusted him in the second half of the season rather than Chambers, which means that Calum potentially heads into the season as the fourth-choice center back again. And that's not taking into account just how highly they rate new signing Rob Holding.

Regardless of what happens, Calum Chambers has shown flashes of brilliance among moments of frustration, but that's to be expected from a young player. Hopefully this season he gets the opportunity to grow on the pitch - with Arsenal, Watford, or elsewhere.
