According to a report from ESPN, Arsenal are actually interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, making him a "priority" this summer transfer window. The club also likes Riyad Mahrez, star of Leicester City's championship campaign and PFA Player of the Year – but they (like me) prefer the Dortmund man.
ESPN's Peter O'Rourke credits "a source close to the London club" for this scoop, which is interesting because I can't remember the last time I saw ESPN report something original regarding Arsenal. Because of that, it's hard to know just how much stock to put into the report, but it does appear that this rumor's building a little bit of momentum.
O'Rourke cites the same €35 million (around £27 million) fee that yesterday's Kicker report had, and I reiterate that if Borussia Dortmund are willing to sell Henrikh Mkhitaryan for that amount, Arsenal should do it. Again, we'll see if they actually do.
