Arsenal transfer target Granit Xhaka says he could "absolutely" see himself playing for the club, but remains "a Gladbach player" until any possible deal is completed. He was asked about the move in an interview with Swiss television channel SRF ahead of this summer's Euro 2016 competition, but said that he's "the wrong person to ask" about how things are progressing.
Whether there are talks or not, the clubs Gladbach and Arsenal know that, but as of now I am still a Gladbach player. It might change in the next weeks or it might not change.
He's honestly saying all the right things here, so I can't fault him for not going full Luis Suarez. Not like that worked, anyway. Between Borussia Monchengladbach yesterday openly reporting a bid had been placed and Xhaka's previous statements, there's nothing here that makes me any less optimistic about the deal getting done. And since he's not openly disputing Arsenal as a possible destination, I'd say this makes me about 1% more certain this is actually going to happen.
That brings me to about 10% certain, by the way. I'm still scarred from transfer windows past, at least until Ornstein says something. Don't be That Guy.
