One more day to go before the summer transfer window closes and the dissection of Arsene Wenger's transfer policy begins. So why not add one more squad departure to the fire of Wenger's fiercest critics?
Costa Rican international, and oft-loaned forward, Joel Campbell has been subject to many departure rumors all summer after failing to secure playing time last season and in the early stages of this campaign. So it makes sense for all parties to find a club that can promise him match experience to continue his growth as a professional. That club, apparently, is Galatasaray.
As you might recall, we've already done business with the Turkish outfit once this summer, so the two clubs are already familiar with hammering out a deal. Given we're in the final hours of the window, and that Galatasaray can offer Campbell Champions League play, it's not the dumbest thing I've read in the past few days.
With the rumored fee being a touch above £5 million, this is a story worth monitoring.
And for those keeping track, a Campbell transfer away would take the list of players sold to five, to only one transfer in. I'll let you decide if this is a sound strategy, given the rest of the current market and league conditions these days.
