Mirror: Arsenal to loan Miquel and Yennaris to Leicester

New, comments

This leaves Arsene Wenger with roughly seven players to start the season. OK, twelve players. And a donkey with a thunderous front left hoof

Arsenal, Leicester manager Nigel Pearson believes as reported by the Daily Mirror, are close to sending out youngsters Ignasi Miquel and Nico Yennaris off on a season-long loan to his club in order to gain more first-team experience. If this goes through, this would put our healthy defensive cover at Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Bacary Sagna, Carl Jenkinson, Kieran Gibbs and...that's it. Sure, those depth issues would be solved with we armed them all with automatic handguns and aviator sunglasses, however last I checked the Premier League frowns on Performance Enhancing Handguns. Not sure about aviators, but I think if it were legal by now, the BFG would have already donned some in a match by now.

All joking aside, if this is true, I think it speaks even more to the fact that the club is working just as hard to bring in new players. There's no possible way Arsene Wenger would feel completely comfortable having six healthy defenders filling four positions heading into the start of this season as they look to avoid the sluggish start that plagued them last season. Talk is cheap, this I know, so until we know a bit more about both the Miquel/Yennaris loan move and any future spending in the transfer market, all we can do is sit and wonder what's really going on behind the scenes.

The key word, though, being 'wonder," for we know very little.
