Good morning and welcome to today's liveblog.
Nothing will be off-topic when it comes to transfer discussions, and we'll be providing you the up-to-the-minute updates on the activity going on both inside the club (very little) and outside the club (more than very little). You got a scoop from your next door neighbor's doctor's brother that Etienne Capoue is waiting by the luggage turnstile, wondering where his luggage is? Post it. John Cross tweeted that some lackey in his newsroom made up some fancy fiction about Mario Goetz being led around Colney, and they attributed his name to the breaking news? Let us know. This is your time to shine (also, credible links and rumors are welcomed, too).
In all reality, you don't want to be on the outside looking in when you're the first to find out that we're not signing anyone, so show up tomorrow and brings your best. We've got coffee and doughnuts.
(all times Eastern time zone)
9:45am - News up to this point: Paul Scharner to Wigan on loan from Hamburg; Christopher Samba to QPR for 12.5m pounds; Florian Thauvin (a reported Arsenal target) to Lille beginning in the summer; Stephen Warnock to Leeds on a free; David Beckham to PSG; Stoke reportedly placed a 4m pound bid for Jack Butland; Danny Graham to Sunderland for 5m pounds; Aston Villa signed Claremont Foot midfielder Yacouba Sylla. - TK
9:59am - Tottenham third-choice keeper Heurelho Gomes appears to be going on loan to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. - TK
10:00am - Eight hours left to go before the window closes. - TK
10:00am: Stoke have all but confirmed the signing of Jack Butland, the 19-year old goalkeeper. He'll stay at Birmingham for the rest of the season. - AG
10:10am - Fulham have brought on Milan midfielder/left back/utility electrician and plumber Urby Emanuelson on loan for the rest of the season, which makes this the second midfielder they've brought in, after our very own Emmanuel Frimpong. - TK
10:15am - Guillem Balague has said that David Villa has seriously considered leaving Barcelona this window, but Barcelona has told him that they're not selling him. Of course, it's Balague, but it does seem like nothing is going to happen. - AG
10:20am - Sevilla striker Alvero Negredo will not, apparently, be moving to Everton after the EPL side showed interest in bringing aboard the Spanish international. - TK
10:37am - It's looking increasingly likely that QPR will end the transfer window with one new striker named Peter, as Sky Sports is believing that either Peter Crouch or Peter Odemwingie will join the rest of the new faces at Loftus Road. - TK
10:53am - Rory Delap, he of the infamous throw-ins, is leaving Stoke, according to Sky Sports, and will suit up for Championship side Barnsley for the rest of the season as he moves on a season-long loan. - TK
11:02am - Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson is close to moving to West Ham to reunite with Sam Allardyce. - TK
11:10am - Chuks Aneke is going back on loan to Crewe Alexandra, for the rest of the season. - AG
11:29am - Shaktar's Willian, a Chelsea and Manchester City target in the recent-past, is moving to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for a reported 30m pounds. - TK
11:34am - Norwich City are testing Celtic's resolve in holdingon to Gary Hooper; the Canaries have had a third bid for the influential forward rebuffed (Sky is reporting they've placed a 4th bid, as well, to no avail). - TK
12:14pm - Sky Italia are reporting that Maarten Stekelenburg is flying to London currently in order to secure a permanent move to Fulham. - TK
12:16pm - Norwich agreed to an undisclosed fee with Leeds United to secure a move for Luciano Becchio; Steve Morison will move away from Norwich in the agreed terms. - TK
12:19pm - Transfer Day drama! After Wigan were all but set to sign Barnsley's 18-year old defender John Stones, Everton swooped in under their nose, secured a transfer fee and, most importantly, arraigned to have Stones in for a medical later today. - TK
1:17pm - Sky Sports "is hearing" that Fulham are weighing up a move for Lyon striker Bafetimdi Gomis. - TK
1:20pm - This is what Sid Lowe had to say on Nacho Monreal:
Monreal: Tidy, well-positioned, decent on ball, steady full back. I like him.
— Sid Lowe (@sidlowe) January 31, 2013
I like it. - AG
1:25pm - Brek Shea has moved to Stoke, says NBC Sports. The club had to lodge a quick appeal to get him a work permit, but that has apparently gone through and the move will be made official shortly. - TK
1:45pm - Guardian is stoking the rumor fire at the moment by saying that PSG is attempting to sign Marouane Fellaini today. - TK
2:17pm - Peter Odemwingie has arrived at Loftus Road, Sky Sports reports with video evidence, in anticipation his current club, West Brom, and QPR can agree on a transfer fee. - TK
2:39pm - Fox Soccer's tweet from 15 minutes ago:
RUMOR: We're being told that Arsenal are making a shock move. Stay tuned while we suss this one out.
— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) January 31, 2013
Needless to say, but stay tuned... - TK
2:49pm - I'm vigorously refreshing arsenal.com. - AG
3:05pm - Footballers are dumb, part 3,850: It seems Peter Odemwingie has left West Bromwich Albion for Loftus Road without the club's permission. Lawyers are being brought in. - AG
3:10pm - LOL at the guy walking behind Jermaine Jenas, as he prepared to enter (unsuccessfully) Loftus Road to make his move from Tottenham to QPR, wearing a white shirt that had the scribbed message in black Sharpie "WE BEAT THE SCUM 1-0" written on it. - TK
3:23pm - Sky Sports is reporting that an unnamed club has triggered the release clause for midfielder Mohamed Diame. - TK
4:00pm - Ben Smith, of the BBC is reporting that West Ham have denied that there has been any bid for Mohamed Diame. - AG
4:18pm - Evidently BBC said earlier that West Ham sent Alou Diarra to Rennes on loan for the year. Clearly this means Diame's staying, and we're about to buy Yann M'Vila. Or not. -TW
4:23pm - GRAIN OF SALT KLAXON:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Hearing arsenal diame might still happen - interesting</p>— Sam Matterface (@sammatterface) <a href="https://twitter.com/sammatterface/status/297090367432585216">January 31, 2013</a></blockquote>

He's from talkSPORT, so yeah. But we're less than two hours from time, so I'm throwing everything at the wall. -TW
4:39pm - We're not selling Arteta. All is well. -TW
5:00pm - One hour to go. At this point, we're waiting for Monreal; there's absolutely no indication that Arsenal are going to do any other business, and while stranger things have happened (I'd never heard of interest for Nacho Monreal before this afternoon), the idea that we're going to sign anyone else is starting to look a bit farfetched. - AG
5:04pm - Bryan Swanson of Sky Sports News says that Monreal is the only deal that Arsenal are working on. - AG
5:44pm - Sky Sources are reporting Monreal is a done deal; now Arsenal have to complete the paperwork. - AG
6:00pm - Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Nacho Monreal. - AG
6:20 PM - Thanks for reading, all. Didn't get the striker or midfielder that many wanted, but Monreal is a very, very good signing. We'll have more reaction to the transfer window in the coming days. I'm going to close the comments in a couple of minutes. Have a good evening. - AG
