Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not be available for England during the Euro 2016 tournament, as he faces an additional six to eight weeks out with a knee injury. He was already nearly certain to miss the rest of Arsenal's season, but the last hopes to be able to join his national team this summer are officially dashed.
Manager Arsene Wenger said:
There is no chance of the Euros for him, he will be back at the beginning of July. You want a guy of 22 years of age to go to the European Championship, so it is very sad.
There's a non-zero chance that this also means it's the last we'll see of The OC as an Arsenal player, as there have been rumors swirling about a possible departure for a while now. It's not certain, but if it is the case it's a bit of a sad departure for a player who came in with a lot of promise and was repeatedly torpedoed by injury.
