Arsenal prevailed against the Newcastle rugby team, scoring through Odegaard on a simple feed by Jorginho then adding a second goal involving a Swiss player. No, it was not Xhaka, but rather Schar scoring an own goal on a beautiful action involving Martinelli. A clean sheet beckoned as Ramsdale was able to deal masterfully with all the attempts by the delusional opponents who pulled a Tartuffe by accusing the Gunners of time wasting.
Bournemouth lost 1-3 at home to Chelsea as the West London outfit avenged their home loss to the South coast opponents. Manchester City scored two via Gundogan and then were awarded a spot kick that Haaland was supposed to dispatch. The Nordic giant decided to give Gundogan a shot at a hat trick but the whole thing fell apart as the penalty was missed to the dismay of Pep Guardiola. A goal for Leeds made for a 2-1 score and a not so comfortable end to the game for the reining champions. The other three fixtures on Sunday all finished one-nil for the home teams: the noisy neighbors at home to Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton at home to Aston Villa, and Liverpool at home to Brentford. On Sunday, West Ham went one-nil over Manchester United. After 13 goals in seven games for the weekend fixtures, Monday saw 23 goals in three games: Fulham winning 5-3 against Leicester, Brighton losing surprisingly at home against Everton, and Nottingham Forest edging (4-3) Southampton and essentially relegating the Saints.
