Arsenal are in Spain to take on Sevilla on Matchday 3 of the Champions League. The Gunners are currently second in Group B on three points. The Spanish side are in third on two points, although recently changed managers, hiring Diego Alonso to replace Jose Luis Medilibar, who had the team off to a sluggish start to the season.
The Gunners need a result. A win would be fantastic and set them up well to win the group. A draw would be an acceptable result and would put Arsenal in a good spot to advance, with two of their three remaining matches coming at the Emirates.
The two clubs have met twice before, both in European competition, back in the 2007-08 Champions League. Each side won at home. The two clubs share a melancholy memory — that of Jose Antonio Reyes — who was taken far too soon. The dynamic attacker started his career at the Spanish club before spending three seasons in North London.
Thomas Partey is the only absence for the Gunners, missing out with a muscle injury. Whether it is related to the groin problem that kept him out for several weeks or a new issue is not known. Sevilla will be without Marcao, Mariano Diaz, and Kike Salas.
