IKTS Week 16: At Wolverhampton.

Arsenal dominated Chelsea and should have won by more than a single goal but Gabriel Maghalaes did well to convert a Bukayo Saka corner that eluded several Chelsea defenders. Chelsea were subdued and Aubameyang had no impact in this game. The defense was impeccable, Partey controlled the midfield with Xhaka, Odegaard was difficult to mark, and the front three tormented the four Chelsea defenders all game. The only regret is that we could have pulled the same result at Southampton a week earlier.

On Saturday, a topsy-turvy game saw Leeds take an early lead, only to relinquish it, but ending up winning 4-3 against Bournemouth. Manchester City scored early, but a red card to Joao Cancelo that yielded a penalty converted by Andreas Pereira saw the game almost end at 1-1, but a generously awarded penalty in added time allowed Haaland to score his eighteenth goal of the season. Nottingham Forest scored at the death for a 2-2 score line against Brentford. Wolverhampton, as they wait for Lopetegui to take over, lost 2-3 to Brighton. Everton lost 0-2 at home to Leicester with a gem of a missile by Tielemans and another nice goal by Barnes. Aston Villa beat Manchester United 3-1 in Unai Emery's first game in charge. Southampton lost 1-4 to Newcastle, ensuring the sacking of Hasenhuttl. West Ham scored first but lost 1-2 to Crystal Palace with Zaha taking advantage of a defensive mishap and Olise bending a banana shaped shot in the top corner of the goal for the winner. Last, but not least, the noisy neighbors fell to a brace by Salah in the first half, with Kane scoring a consolation goal while the score stayed at 1-2, despite a huge push to equalize.

Overall, the 14 active participants combined for 105 points, for an average of 7 and 1/2 points per active participant, but we only had 5 correct IKTS predictions. A total of 37 goals were scored over 10 games, for an average of 3.7 goals per game. There were only three wins for home teams versus six losses and there was only one draw.
