Wednesday Cannon Fodder: bad start

Today has not gotten off to a good start. I woke up to find that one of my monitors wasn’t working. I spent nearly an hour trying to figure out what was wrong. I tried everything — trying to turn it off and on, unplugging and replugging it, plugging it into a different outlet downloading new drivers — nothing worked.

Then as I was fiddling with it, it miraculously turned on. At that point, I had it plugged directly into the wall with the cord in an incredibly inconvenient place. So I went to plug it back into the surge protector, you know, because it’s working now.

It wouldn’t turn back on.

As far as I can tell, the power cord itself has a short. If I manipulate it, turn it, massage it, and ask it nicely, it might work again. But I can’t seem to find the sweet spot again. So I’ve given up. I ordered a replacement that will arrive tomorrow.

Right now, I’m working from one monitor (oh the humanity, right?). And my day is getting started late and with me in a bad mood.
