Arsenal 0 - Manchester City 5: community player ratings

Maybe it’ll make you feel better to hand out some 0’s and 1’s. Maybe not.

And I thought the numbers from Arsenal’s performance last week against Chelsea would be bad. I have a feeling the ratings from today’s 5-0 drubbing at Manchester City will be worse. There really aren’t many positives (any at all?) to take away from the match. It was bad all the way down.

The truth is the Gunners are a mid-table team when fully healthy and firing on all cylinders. Looking at the Premier League, I think a good season from this Arsenal bunch has a pretty hard ceiling at 5th compared to the other rosters. And when you’ve got a 5th-8th roster playing at a worse than a 10th place level this is pretty much what it looks like.

The real test of what Arsenal are and how the season is going to go will be the eight matches over the next two months. Presumably, the team will be fit and healthy after the international break and will start to iron out some of the issues. Otherwise, it’s going to get even uglier. I continue to think that Mikel Arteta probably gets the rest of this season, but if things go really badly, that could quickly change.
