Arsenal take on Scottish champions Rangers in their second preseason friendly as the Gunners wrap up their week in Scotland. The team heads to the United States next week for a training camp in Orlando and matches against Inter Milan and either Everton or Millonarios FC on July 25th and 28th.
Kieran Tierney returned from holiday early to join the side in his native Scotland, and I would be shocked if he doesn’t make at least a cameo appearance today. Beyond that, I’d expect everyone on the bench to see the field at some point. I’m expecting Arthur Okonkwo to put in a better performance after looking nervous in his first full professional match. Arsenal are high on his potential and that match was an aberration. I’ll also be looking to see how Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays paired up with the senior attackers. He played against Hibernian alongside more the reserve attackers and drifted in and out (mostly out) of the friendly.
It would be nice if Arsenal could win today’s preseason tilt after losing 2-1 to Hibernian earlier in the week. But at the end of the day, it’s a friendly, and the point is for guys to regain their fitness, their sharpness, and for the younger players to get a run out with the senior squad.
