There are just the two games today, so it’s a good day to take care of those other things that have fallen by the wayside while you were watching hours upon hours of soccer consecutively. You know, like cleaning the house, doing the laundry, eating, bathing.
Yesterday, Austria beat Ukraine 1-0 to qualify for the knockout stages and to leave Andriy Shevchenko’s side on just three points. They’ve got a nervous wait to see if three points will be good enough to qualify them as a third place finisher. Group C winner Netherlands cruised to a 3-0 win over North Macedonia, but shout out to The Lynxes for making their first major international tournament.
Belgium beat Finland 2-0 to wrap up full points and first place in Group B. The Red Devils will face Switzerland in the first knockout stage. Yesterday’s results guaranteed Granit Xhaka’s side advanced and that any other 3rd place finisher with 4 points goes through (so England and France are guaranteed a spot in the knockouts). And in the match of the tournament so far, Denmark beat Russia 4-1 to clinch second in the group and advance.
