Arsenal Women have agreed a deal with Olympique Lyon to sign the England striker Nikita Parris according to Sky Sports News. Parris, who is the third-highest goal scorer in WSL history, reportedly agreed personal terms and will undergo a medical for the club. Parris has been in England, having linked up with Hege Riise’s England squad in a pre-Olympic Games training camp, minus the Scottish and Welsh players who will be part of Team GB. Parris, along with Leah Williamson and Kim Little, will be taking part in this summer’s delayed Olympic Games.

Parris left Manchester City two years ago for Lyon, where she won the treble in the 2019-20 season, but finished empty-handed this season, having been runners-up to PSG in the league, and knocked out by the same side in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. All told, Parris scored 21 goals in 35 games at Lyon, with a further two assists. Parris would add pace to Arsenal’s forward line, and an added goal threat to the wide forward positions.

Last month, the Guardian reported that Arsenal and Lyon were in talks for a straight swap of Vivianne Miedema and Parris, a worrying development. However, according to Arseblog News, this would just be a straight deal for Parris, with Vivianne Miedema expected, at this point, to see out the remaining year on her contract.
