The summer of soccer rolls on, although we have one fewer match in the Euros because of the one-match opening day. Group F, the Group of Death (because every tournament has to have one, it’s a rule) kicks things off. And then we start the cycle over again tomorrow with the second round of matches. The Copa America is off today and tomorrow.
Yesterday, the Czech Republic bested Scotland 2-0, featuring an early candidate for goal of the tournament. Slovakia surprised Poland, beating them 2-1, helped out by Grzegorz Krychowiak being sent off early in the second half for a second yellow card. And Spain and Sweden played to a relatively entertaining 0-0 draw — there were chances both ways, but both sides lacked that cutting edge.
