Yesterday was one of those days, the perfect combination of things going on in the world, less sleep than usual, and general grumpiness/malaise. I went through the motions but didn’t really feel with it or focused all day. Despite being better rested this morning, it’s looking like today is going to be similar.
I’m not too worried about it — it’ll pass with another good night’s sleep and perhaps a relaxing weekend. But I’m taking it as a reminder to me (and passing it along to you) that we’re in weird, difficult times and that it’s okay to not be firing on all cylinders at all times. Be kind to yourself and do what you need to do to stay sane.
For me, part of that will be watching copious amounts of soccer over the next few days on ESPN+ and all the other streaming services. I’ve quite enjoyed watching leagues and teams that I didn’t watch regularly in the past. I’ve found Ligue 1 to be quite entertaining — a lot of attacking and not much defending. I got into the Bundesliga during their restart and am glad they resumed play last weekend. I’ve even watched some of the Swedish Allsvenskan, mostly because it’s on and the multi-syllabic names of everything are amusing to me.
What new sports watching habits, or hobbies generally, have you picked up in the last six months?
Also, here is a LARGE bear.
Are you ready for #FatBearWeek? Next week, @KatmaiNPS holds its annual competition so you can judge which chubby cubby takes this year's title. Pic of last year's winner: 435 Holly #Alaska pic.twitter.com/eKjNAYYAJx
