Arsenal Women have signed centre back Lotte Wubben-Moy. Wobben-Moy is an Arsenal Academy graduate, who made her debut for the club in 2015 at 16, and went on to make 13 more appearances for the club. In 2017, Wubben-Moy left for the University of North Carolina, where she was due to finish playing this fall. However, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic mismanagement in the United States led to her forgoing her final year of eligibility.
Wobben-Moy has been named in the England squad for the upcoming international break. Her NCAA career saw her win two ACC championships, and finish runners up in the College Cup twice. In last year’s final, she calmly put away her penalty in the final penalty shoot-out.
There truly is no place like home. North London. So proud and grateful to finally be an @ArsenalWFC player, again. ⚪️ https://t.co/mYViX8gpJi

Wobben-Moy not only is an Academy graduate, but is also an Arsenal fan. She is also somewhat familiar with the current squad, as she would train with Arsenal during close-season periods. Bringing her into the team will give Arsenal more defensive cover, especially given current injury issues for Jen Beattie, while also bringing another homegrown player into the squad. Manager Joe Montemurro said, “Lotte is obviously a player that when I first came in was about to leave for the US. All credit to the club for keeping tabs on her development whilst she was away, and then obviously securing a player that is in and around the England camp. She will be a top player.”
