Now that sports are back/coming back, there is finally enough relevant, non-silly content to share with y’all. Here’s some of the stuff that has stuck out for me over the last few days.

Study confirms racial bias in soccer announcing
White players are more likely to be praised for their intelligence, leadership, and versatility. Nonwhite players are more likely to be praised for physical qualities. Black players were praised for strength four times more often and for speed seven times more frequently.

Stop playing the national anthem before NWSL games
Kim McCauley over at All for XI (who was mentioned yesterday on Around the Horn) gives the case for dropping the national anthem from our pregame ritual. We should.

The mayor of Leicester announced new, extended lockdown protocols with COVID-19 cases spiking in the city.

Southend were relegated when the League one season was officially cancelled earlier this month. Campbell has been outspoken about the lack of diversity in footballing coaching.
