Saturday open thread: what to watch

Arsenal don’t play until tomorrow, but there’s plenty of football on today! Hang out and chat about it in the comments!

This weekend is light on Premier League action. The only matches are Aston Villa - Wolves (which already happened, but in the interest of DVR and On-Demand I won’t give you the score) and Watford - Southampton tomorrow. If English football is your cup of tea, Norwich take on Manchester United in an FA Cup quarterfinal at 12:30 PM ET on ESPN.

The NWSL Challenge Cup starts today! People have consistently gotten it wrong / overlooked it in their “return to sports in the U.S.” tweets but the NWSL is the first team sport to resume in the United States. Our friends over at All For XI do tremendous coverage of Women’s Soccer and are pulling out all the stops for the Challenge Cup. Check them out! Today’s matches are North Carolina Courage - Portland Thorns at 12:30 PM ET on CBS (!!!) and Chicago Red Stars - Washington Spirit at 10:00 PM ET on CBS All Access.

Also on TV in the states today is a full slate of La Liga matches on beIN:
Celta de Vigo - Barcelona - 11 AM ET
Osasuna - Leganes, 1:30 PM ET
Atletico Madrid - Deportivo Alaves, 4:00 PM

Cagliari - Torino pops up on ESPN2 at 1:30 PM in Serie A action.

And finally, the Bundesliga wraps up today with all 18 clubs in action starting at 9:30 AM across Fox Sports’ various platforms. The best match on table position is Wolfsburg - Bayern Munich on FS1, but Bayern have already clinched the title, and unless I’m mistaken, Wolfsburg are only playing to avoid the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. RB Leipzig, play Augsburg on FS+ and need a point to clinch a Champions League place. A point should also do the trick for Monchengladbach, who take on Herta Berlin on FS+. Bayer Leverkusen are on the outside of CL qualification looking in — they take on Mainz on the Match Pass
