Four more sleeps until Arsenal return to play. When we all wake up on Wednesday, June 17th, the Gunners will be headed to take on Manchester City. Regardless of the result, it will be a good day because the Premier League will be back.
During Arsenal’s remarkable 17 straight seasons in the Champions League, Arsenal won the “4th place trophy” 6 times.
Arsene Wenger has caught a lot of flack over the years for referring to a better-than-fourth place finish as a trophy, but what I would give for another one of those right now. I think, in the moment, Arsenal supporters didn’t realize the difficulty-level of maintaining that kind of consistency or how good we had it to watch our club in the Champions League every season, even if they didn’t have much of a chance of winning it after 2006.
