If you’re anything like me, you’ve used at least some of your isolation time to shorten your [insert streaming service of choice] queue or free up some space on the DVR. Lately, I’ve been either rewatching old shows that I enjoyed or watching cooking shows. First, it was Parks and Rec (sidenote: really enjoyed the reunion special). Now, it’s How I Met Your Mother, which absolutely could not be made today as it was 15 years ago when the show debuted.
In terms of cooking shows, I’ve been watching Masterchef, Masterchef Junior, Top Chef: Masters, and Top Chef: Junior — quite the word salad there. They’re easy watches, and I learn something (or a few somethings) every episode. And the kids are really cute. I’ve also gotten back into Iron Chef: America. The overproduction and self-aware kitsch amuses me. It’s good background/right before bed watching and every now and then, I pick up a cooking trick.
At some point, I need to watch The Last Dance; I’ve got all the episodes currently eating up a bunch of DVR space. For some reason, the mood hasn’t struck me yet. I’ve also got the last two-thirds of the fifth season of The Magicians taking up a chunk. I’d highly recommend The Magicians for people who like “nerd culture” even a little bit; it’s adult Harry Potter.
What have you been watching lately? Any fun new finds?
