Arsenal lead Olympiacos 1-0 on aggregate with that critical away goal heading into today’s return leg at the Emirates. The Gunners are on a 10-match unbeaten streak, and I don’t expect that to end today. Any result sees the squad advance to the Round of 16 in the Europa League and keeps that critical Champions League qualification hope alive.
I don’t expect the side to sit back to preserve that slim margin, however, especially against an Olypiacos side that does not travel well in Europe. The visitors have lost their last seven consecutive away matches in the Champions League and will be without centerback Ruben Semedo because of a yellow-card accumulation suspension. The Gunners should try to put this one away early.
I wrote about a week and a half ago that we’d know a lot more about where this season is headed in early March, and since then, Arsenal have done well to breathe new life into what appeared to be a lost season. I don’t think that momentum stops today.
