If you’ve read the match report, you’ll know that I probably don’t think today’s performance was as poor as you do. Bukayo Saka was bossing the match and Arsenal should have been ahead (darn you Alexandre Lacazette). Saka’s injury threw everything out of whack.
But Mikel Arteta and Arsenal didn’t adjust well and didn’t generate much of anything going forward in the second half. They dodged a bullet when Jay Rodriguez’s volley into the bar somehow didn’t bounce in.
And as I’ve said before, results matter. It was Arsenal’s 13th draw of the season. The Gunners are tied for 10th in the table. They have the third fewest wins in the Premier League. Hopefully, a two week break and a four-day training camp in Dubai helps set things right. Miraculously, the season isn’t lost yet. The Gunners are in the knockout stages of the Europa League, alive in the FA Cup, and within striking distance of the EL places in the league. But the margin for error is virtually non-existent at this point. They need to start winning matches.
Let us know what you thought of today’s performance. You don’t have to be as generous as I was. If you can’t see the embed, link is here.
