Vivianne Miedema, who if you haven’t heard, is fairly good at football, scored all four goals as a rotated Arsenal team beat London City Lionesses, of the FA Women’s Championship, 4-0 in the Continental Cup. The win keeps Arsenal in third place in the group.
Realistically, with Chelsea having only LCL left to play, Arsenal cannot win the group, but beating Tottenham later in this month would put the Gunners in a position to be one of the two best runners-up. Arsenal would need to win by a sizable margin, as only the results against the first and third placed teams will count in ranking runners-up.
Jill Roord, Leonie Maier, and Kim Little returned from injury, as did Fran Stenson, who made her debut in goal for the club. Arsenal are next in action in Sunday, away at Manchester United.
Arsenal (4-3-3): Stenson; Wubben-Moy (Maier 62’), Williamson, Schnaderbeck, McCabe; Wälti, Gut, Roord (Mace 46’); Van de Donk, Miedema (Little 62’), Foord
