Arsenal travel to the Etihad today to take on Manchester City in the Premier League and kick off a crazy stretch of 7 matches in 21 days. Mikel Arteta’s bunch will be looking to turn around a poor recent record away to City: the Gunners have conceded three on each of their previous three visits. Arteta has split his first two matches with his former boss Pep Guardiola, so today is somewhat of a rubber match between the pair.
At time of writing, there hasn’t been any news on whether Kieran Tierney was released early from his 14-day COVID-19 quarantine, but Arsenal were confident on Friday that he would be. Thomas Partey trained with his teammates yesterday, but we’ll have to wait for the lineup to see whether Mikel Arteta has deemed him ready to play a role.
The Gunners injury list is familiar — Shkodran Mustafi, Pablo Mari, Calum Chambers, and Gabriel Martinelli are all out, although Martinelli has returned to doing field work and was pictured at training on Friday. You’ll notice Emile Smith Rowe is no longer on the injured list; he’s in full training and may feature in the Europa League on Thursday.
Pep Guardiola will be without Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus for today’s match. Raheem Sterling, who missed international duty with a hamstring issue, should be good to go. Sergio Aguero will make his return from an ACL injury today.
