At the risk of sounding trite — we’ve got too much negativity in our lives, especially these days. That’s understandable given the times, but there are good, positive things happening every day, too. That’s what I want to highlight, celebrate, and share good news today.

Last week, my girlfriend got some great news from a former co-worker of hers. Before moving back to D.C., she was a teacher in NYC public schools, teaching middle schoolers many of whom had individual education plans. She taught at a school in Brooklyn that was something like 90%-plus minority students.

The co-worker had run into one of her former students. She had given him a lot of help on his high school application for a “screened” school, apparently the high school application process in NYC is quite complicated. He wanted my GF’s co-worker to pass along that he had graduated and was going to start college in January.

To some, it may not seem like much. But it’s a fantastic accomplishment for the young man. I’m happy to have heard the story and glad that I get to share it with you. What is something (or somethings) positive that have happened to you, a loved one, a friend, whoever in your life recently?
