Arsenal v. Bournemouth, FA Cup: Community ratings

The Arteta Era rolls on. Arsenal have booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup, in which they will travel to Portsmouth the week of March 3, after beating Bournemouth 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium today. This was a physical game; Shkodran Mustafi went off at the hour after an awkward collision with Emi Martinez in which neither man seemed to call for a ball and thus both went for it, and Bournemouth’s Dan Gosling managed to take out both Bukayo Saka and Matteo Guendouzi on the same play just a short while later.

Bournemouth did come to life a bit in the second half, and got a goal about half way through the eight minutes of injury time, but Arsenal never really looked all that threatened; they had a level of assurance that we haven’t seen for more than a few minutes at a time since Arteta took over. It looks like his desired play style is starting to spread, and hopefully that will remain the case as Arsenal gain the fitness they need to execute it.
