Was it going to be anyone else?

Vivianne Miedema, who scored six goals and registered four assists in a single game, has been named the FA WSL player of December.

Miedema scored 10 goals in December, with a double hat trick against Bristol City, and scoring twice against Reading and Everton, as the Gunners won all of their league matches. Overall, Miedema has scored fourteen goals in the WSL this year, and twenty-six in all competitions.

Miedema scored fifty-three goals for club and country in 2019, and while she hasn’t scored yet in 2020, she assisted Kim Little’s header last week against Birmingham City, and has a claim for a half assist with her nutmeg for Jordan Nobbs’ goal yesterday. Indeed, yesterday ended a run of nine straight league games where Miedema has scored or assisted. She is a generational talent, and it is a privilege to have her at the club, and get to watch her take defences apart every week.

Arsenal Women play Chelsea on Sunday, with the Gunners 4 points ahead of Chelsea, who are in third, with a game in hand. Arsenal are 3 points ahead of Manchester City in second.
