As you know, Arsenal’s Mesut Özil and Sead Kolasinac were given the weekend off, following a “further security threat” after an incident a couple weeks ago in which Özil’s car was chased and stopped by two people on motorcycles. There are still not a lot of specifics about what happened, but it does appear to be somewhat serious, and while we can’t conclusively connect the weekend’s “further threat” to that original incident, it’s also not hard to imagine that the two might in some way be related.
News came this weekend of a break in the case, though. Two men were charged following an altercation outside Özil’s home, in which they tangled with security guards and subsequently arrested. It is not known what the relationship of this incident is to the others, whether the two men arrested have any connection with the other incidents, or what drove this particular incident, but it’s good to know that some people who appear to be responsible for some of these horrible acts have been caught and charged.
We will update this story as needed; I desperately hope we never need to update this story again.
