After a bad thing happens, be it in sports or otherwise, we all need a bit of cheering up. That’s why we asked for animal pictures on Twitter yesterday after the Arsenal loss, for instance - that little dopamine rush of awwwwwwww good doggo and kitty really helps put unpleasantness out of the mind for even a few minutes, which can’t help but help.
But not everyone loves cat and dog pictures (I know!). And even if you do, sometimes, that’s just not the happy place to which you want to retreat when things go sideways. So that’s today’s question: What do you do to cheer yourself up when something doesn’t go your way? Is it a food you eat that makes you feel better, a book you read, a game you play, or something else entirely?
For me, when I’ve had a bad day, I tend to retreat into music. I put the headphones on, pick out a favorite album or two, and just listen. Sometimes I listen while doing other things, and sometimes I just listen, but music tends to put me in my happy place, and helps to re-center me. Tillamook Mint Chip ice cream helps too.
