IKTS Week 11: Fingers crossed against the Foxes...

Listening to the crowd at the Emirates, you know that Unai Emery is on borrowed time. For the third time this season, Arsenal lost two points, although you could say that this time around, it was from one goal up (rather than from two goals up at Watford and at home to Crystal Palace) for a grand total of 6 points lost, which would have tied us with Chelsea and Leicester, albeit with a much inferior goal difference. Liverpool and Manchester City won their ties unconvincingly, Manchester United was defeated at Bournemouth, Chelsea won by the thinnest of margins, and Leicester took care of Crystal Palace. The most interesting game involved Alex Iwobi’s catastrophic misplaced pass that led to a goal for our noisy visitors, but Son got a red card, and Everton tied at the death. A bad injury to Andre Gomes marred the game. William Saliba played really well for Saint-Etienne as they beat a resurgent Monaco by the score of 1-0. The Europa League started early this week with Arsenal’s fixture away in Portugal, played on Wednesday because of a congestion of fixtures in the Lusitanian north, and it produced yet another tie for the Gunners, 1-1, to match last weekend’s EPL score. It also seems that sammy dog has deserted us, hopefully only for the short term.

Scores for the week:

hansdampf 8 (1)
ClevelandJames 8 (0)
Geaux_HR 7 (0)
Le Poulain Francais 5 (0)
Ray from Norfolk, Virginia 5 (0)
inthekcmix 3 (0)

Stars of the week: A gold medal for hansdampf on 8 points (and one correct IKTS prediction, the only one for all the participants this week) followed by ClevelandJames also on 8 points, with Geaux_HR in third place on 7 points.

Clever pick of the week: The only IKTS belongs to hansdampf for the prediction of a 1-1 score between Everton and Tottenham, but ClevelandJames and Geaux_HR score two points each for predicting the correct outcome.

Crisis pick of the week: A huge collective crisis as no points were scored on the Bournemouth- Manchester United, Arsenal-Wolverhampton, or West Ham-Newcastle games.

Standings after week 10:

Geaux_HR 98 (13)
Ray from Norfolk, Virginia 85 (9)
inthekcmix 81 (12)
hansdampf 78 (9)

sammy dog 68 (7)
Le Poulain Francais 64 (8)

Overall, Geaux_HR increases the lead over Ray from Norfolk to 13 points while inthekcmix holds on to third place.

Cup game: Bagels all around, again, as none of the participants predicted a tie.
