You’ll never guess who it is

Arsenal announced via Twitter this evening the team’s Player of the Month for September, and the answer is . . . drumroll please . . . Matteo Guendouzi!!

Guendouzi has had a pretty strong month, most notably when he stepped up and put in a strong showing during the second half of September’s North London Derby, so good for him for getting this recognition.

According to the Arsenal website, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came in second place in the award voting, and he will almost certainly rack up plenty of these awards over the course of this season. Calum Chambers, who was one of the more pleasant surprises of this past month given that not long ago it seemed his Arsenal career might be dead in the water, came in third place.

Guendouzi’s has grown impressively as a player since he arrived at Arsenal last summer, besides, given the amount of playing time he has received over that season and change, it is easy to forget that he is only 20-years-old. With, presumably, his best soccer-playing days still well ahead of him, why, an optimist would expect Guendouzi to win plenty of “Arsenal Player of the Month” awards in the future.
