Another Tuesday, another random odd match day. Today, Arsenal welcome the grieving Cardiff City to the Emirates, as the search for Emiliano Sala continues. Hopefully Cardiff (the team) will welcome the distraction of a match today - Neil Warnock has spoken about how tough this week has been for him and the club, and while life won’t be normal for a while, hopefully the routine of game day - travel, preparation, game, etc. - will be a momentary refuge from the awfulness of real life.
And while my heart goes out to Sala’s family and friends, and to Cardiff City, I do also hope that refuge results in zero points for City. Arsenal need a win today to stay in touch with the top four - a win today levels them with Chelsea on points, but would keep Arsenal in fifth on goal difference. And it would also give them a brief (United play Burnley today, kickoff is 15 minutes after Arsenal’s) three point edge over the white-hot Manchester United, who may never lose again.
So yeah, let’s get those three points.
