Arsenal have drawn Blackpool in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. The Gunners will host the Seasiders on either October 30th or 31st. The draw was stacked, with 9 other Premier League teams and 4 Championship teams. Drawing Blackpool, one of the two remaining League One teams, is a great result for the Gunners.

For Arsenal’s third round tie with Brentford, Unai Emery selected a strong side comprised almost entirely of first team players, the only exception being 18-year old Emile Smith Rowe. Given where the 4th round tie falls in the schedule, Emery would do well to weigh carefully how much the Carabao Cup matters to him and the club.

The match will be Arsenal’s 4th in 10 or 11 days, with Liverpool visiting the Emirates a few days later. There is (obviously) no way to know where the squad will be from a fitness / fatigue perspective, but Emery will have some tough decisions to make on who to start, who to rest, and which matches to prioritize for his “first 11.”

The other 4th round fixtures are below.

Manchester City vs. Fulham
Bournemouth vs. Norwich
Leicester vs. Everton/Southampton
West Ham vs. Tottenham
Middlesbrough vs. Crystal Palace
Chelsea vs. Derby County
Burton Albion vs. Nottingham Forest

There are no matchups between giants, so if everything goes to form, the 5th round will be even more stacked. Keep an eye on that Chelsea-Derby County tie. Fresh off eliminating one of his managers at Chelsea (Jose Mourinho), Frank Lampard’s Derby County side will visit his former club.
