Arsenal have struggled away from the Emirates in 2018. It took them until the last game of last season to earn their first away points. Today’s trip to Wales to face newly promoted Cardiff City provides the Gunners with a good chance to buck that trend. The Bluebirds have yet to score a goal this season, but they don’t concede many either.
One of the things to watch for is how Cardiff approaches Aaron Ramsey. Ramsey began his professional career with Cardiff before moving to Arsenal in 2008. Cardiff’s manager Neil Warnock said he wants his team to “rough up” the Welshman.
Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are still out with injury, but Mesut Özil should return to the lineup. Meanwhile, Cardiff will be missing midfielder Aron Gunnarsson, who played for Iceland at the World Cup, and forward Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Müstafi, Sokrates, Monreal, Xhaka, Guendouzi, Ramsey, Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette
