This has been one of the less frantic transfer windows in a few seasons. Not just for Arsenal but on all fronts, there hasn’t been the usual rush of last minute/last weekend blockbuster type deals that we generally get in a summer window. That’s no doubt partly due to England backing up their window so it coincides with the summer break, instead of running to the end of the month, but still, it’s been oddly quiet on most fronts.
But today, we did get a confirmation of at least one piece of business. As we talked about last week, David Ospina, the human definition of the term “out of favor”, has agreed personal terms with Besiktas, seemingly drawing to a close his...illustrious? Arsenal career:
But! There’s a bit of a snag here, as Arsenal want rid of him permanently and Besiktas want the deal to be an initial loan followed by an option to buy. Something tells me that this will be resolved in the next hour, though, as all parties seemingly agree on the need for Ospina to move on, given Arsenal’s glut of keepers and Ospina’s not being good enough for Arsenal.
Stay tuned for confirmation, but it looks like Ospina to Turkey is basically a done deal.
UPDATE: It’s not quite Ospina holding up a scarf and talking about boyhood dreams, but:
