Arsenal played four matches this pre-season against top flight opponents, they won two and drew two (winning one on penalties and losing the other) for an overall productive preseason.
In this I am not going to count Borehamwood because they are not at the level of the other teams and would not really give much in the way of a clue to how things will play out this coming season.
24 Danger Zone shots
23 Danger Zone Shots
The overall numbers of nine goals scored and three goals conceded is a bit flattering for Arsenal when you look at the shots for and against. Things were much closer than suggested by the overall goals with Arsenal barley outshooting their opponents 59 to 53 and winning the xG battle 7.3 to 6.3.
Arsenal Pre-Season Shooting
Alexandre Lacazette was Arsenal’s top goal scorer in the pre-season, racking up the most goals, most shots and the most xG. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also looked dangerous in the preseason and the pair of strikers makes me very excited to see the two line up together in the regular season.
Arsenal Key Passes
Reiss Nelson led Arsenal in xG+xA in the preseason and giving hints of the player that he could potentially grow into. Mesut Özil led Arsenal in chances created with eight total chances.
Running xG for each match
No it is time to play some matches that really count.
