Arsenal’s Carabao Cup opponent: Brentford

The season’s taking shape.

When the Premier League season starts, there’s still several TBD’s listed on the fixture list, for all the various cups that determine their games a few weeks in. The first of those TBDominoes (see what I did there) fell today, with the Carabao Cup third round taking place.

Arsenal will welcome Brentford to the Emirates, on either the 25th or 26th of September. They play Everton on Sunday the 23rd, so my money’s on the 26th, but that has yet to be finalized. Brentford, who finished ninth in the Championship last season, are currently eighth in that division after five games.

The good news is that Arsenal are undefeated against Brentford in their history. The qualifier there, though, is that this will be Arsenal and Brentford’s first meeting since 1947, so I guess that doesn’t mean all that much. It’s always fun to see new matchups, though, and while the Carabao Cup overall isn’t that thrilling, winning it would be fine, and winning it, this season, starts with Brentford.
