With a little over a week to go before the season begins and less before the transfer window closes, Arsenal got a bit of a rude news on the injury front. After limping off in the 70th minute against Chelsea, Sead Kolasinac has now been ruled out for 8-10 weeks with a knee injury. This leaves a massive hole at left-back depth, with only Nacho Monreal a natural position replacement.
In similar times of injury, Arsene Wenger turned to Ainsley Maitland-Niles as a fill in. Whether Unai Emery was aware of this, or even willing to try it, it might be prudent for Arsenal to see if any short term options exist in the transfer world, rather than rely on the aging legs of Monreal.
But time is short which means prices will be up. If Emery is set to be married to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, he’s going to have to make some big decisions early to help start the season on the right knee, erm, foot, uh...
The calf of Aaron Ramsey was also updated. He’ll miss tomorrow’s match against Lazio but is expected to return to training next week.
