Jack Wilshere and his tiny legs and arms relishes match versus Arsenal

Jack Wilshere will play in his first competitive match versus Arsenal this weekend, as his West Ham side travel to his old stomping grounds looking, like Unai Emery’s side is, for their first points of the season. And Wilshere seems very much up for the match, as evidenced by his comments:

“It’s down to me to prove a point to Arsenal that they were wrong to get rid of me,” Wilshere told West Ham’s matchday programme.

First of all I’ve got to concentrate on football and I quite fancy our chances. I obviously know them really well.”

It’ll be a strange one for me as I was never able to go there and play when I went out on loan as you can’t play against your parent club, but it’s on I’m looking forward to.”

Anyone in his position would be excited to go against former colleagues, especially so early in the season and coming just weeks after his departure from Arsenal, which is why I have to imagine that the betting lines on whether he picks up a booking this weekend will be suspended before kickoff.

There are certainly good arguments to be made at which player Wilshere slides into well after the fact and starts a commotion that otherwise would be prevented were he not an angry, balding dwarf. Which Arsenal player do you think Wilshere is going to start something with, only to end up being held back by his teammates as they smile and pat his head?
