Arsenal’s pursuit of Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira continues with reports now suggesting Arsenal are set to go over the reported release cause:
Arsenal are close to an agreement with Sampdoria over the transfer of Lucas Torreira & are willing to pay €30m for the Uruguayan midfielder, more than his €25m release clause, but want to pay the larger fee over a number of years. [@DiMarzio] #afc pic.twitter.com/Y63lXZZ5dH

Whether true or not, it is at least a sign Arsenal appear set to do brisk business after the perceived waffling of Wenger, bringing in only the right player at only the right price. Granted, €5 million really isn’t a great amount of money to ensure the transfer but progress is progress. The increase might also be in response to interest from Napoli for Torreira.
The 22-year-old Uruguayan appears to be firmly on Arsenal’s radar to bolster the midfield following the departure of Santi Cazorla and the potential loss of Jack Wilshere. With Sampdoria signing Lokomotiva Zagreb’s Lovro Majer recently, Torreira appears to certainly be on the way out. With the World Cup on the horizon, Arsenal getting a deal done soon would be beneficial given how little time Unai Emery will have preparing his new team in the preseason.
UPDATE 4:47pm EST: No word on price change but a whole lotta smoke starting up on the Torreira Transfer:
Sun: It is understood that Unai Emery is keen to push the #Torreira deal through before his World cup campaign begins.https://t.co/HL7PhhfC2G

Good signs that things might be moving to get some more pieces in place ahead of the World Cup and Torreira looks to be a central piece for Emery. All bodes well for The Arsenal.
