No quiz again this week, it’s that odd time between season and tournament and there wasn’t really anything that jumped out at me. So we’ll have to just have an open thread and, y’know, talk to each other, like animals. Oh wait, no, I mean like awesome people who love finding stuff out about each other. We talk about Arsenal all the time, let’s talk about not-Arsenal for a bit.

What are you doing this weekend? I’m super, super excited because tonight, thanks to my awesome wife who got us tickets a few months ago, I’m going to see Weird Al. It’s not the gigantic spectacle show he usually does - this one’s just him and a small band doing mostly his original songs, not his parodies. But it’s still going to be amazing and I’m almost ridiculously geeked out about it, in no small part because his opening act is Emo Phillips, one of my all-time favorite stand-up comedians.

The HBO special Emo did in the late 80’s is seriously one of my comic touchstones, and one of the bigger influences on my sense of humor. The whole thing is here, but if you can’t spare the hour (you really should spare the hour), the joke I always think of when I think of that special is this one. That joke is nearly perfect and should be in the Smithsonian.

Anyway, then, on Saturday we’re going to see Deadpool 2. I’m not a gigantic superhero movie fan, but I loved the first Deadpool and I don’t really care if the second one is a carbon copy, because the first one was so funny.

What about your weekend? Got any big plans for Memorial Day? Hopefully you all get the day off. Three day weekends are the best, and there should be more of them - there should be one every month, as far as I’m concerned. Anyway, tell me about your weekend! Or about something fun you did this week!

Welcome to your Friday open thread.
