Arsenal are a club in upheaval. The team is in need of a manager, central midfield and defensive help and a very short window with which to fill those needs. So cue up the rumour mill and let it churn.
Reports today indicate that Arsenal have contacted the agents of Jean Michael Seri to discuss the options for a summer move to North London. Fresh off helping OGC Nice to a sixth place finish in Ligue 1, the central midfielder has been on a lot of team’s radars since last offseason, with Chelsea and Barcelona also keenly interested in the Ivorian. Previous transfer talk have rated Seri at £40million, which is a hefty price and could represent a lot of Arsenal’s spending power, after big money additions of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Still, central midfield is a desperate need for Arsenal. Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka are the only sure fire first team options and Ramsey can’t be trusted to be healthy while Xhaka needs all the help he can get over a long season. Seri’s production has not been eye-dropping but his skill is there and could be the boost in CM the team needs to plateau the performance long term and avoid unnecessary slumps.
Now about that manager and defense.
