Arsenal host Southampton at the Emirates today, and although we’re all probably having more fun with the Europa League right now, the Premier League games still need playing.
Arsenal sit sixth in the table, five points behind Chelsea and two ahead of Burnley, and they have won their last five games. Southampton, meanwhile, are in the relegation zone in eighteenth and haven’t won in the league since early February, although they have been winning in the FA Cup. Arsenal will rotate a few players to keep everyone fresh and healthy for the Europa League—or they should, at least—but today’s match is still a very good opportunity to collect some points.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan had to leave the game against CSKA Moscow with a knee injury, and it turned out to be worse than it initially seemed—there is a chance that he could miss the rest of the season. David Ospina will also be out for a few weeks with an ankle issue. Southampton have their entire team available.
